Our History
Colors of Cambodia started with our founder Bill Gentry teaching talented children art at rural schools in Cambodia.
In 1999 he began teaching drawing and watercolors at one particular location south of Siem Reap. He used his tuk tuk driver as a translator. This endeavor soon expanded to more schools and the project progressed and in 2003 a building was purchased in the center of Siem Reap. Though now having its own school house, classes at countryside schools continued, and do to this day. Every week, Monday to Friday, kids at numerous school houses continue to benefit from COC’s free art instruction. Nearly a thousand children participate in COC classes monthly in the Siem Reap province. And art education videos are under development in Khmer language too, so the COC initiative can expand throughout Cambodia!
