Teaching Art in Rural Rwanda

January 28, 2025

Bill Gentry recently traveled to Rwanda for the first time, spending ten days teaching art in rural schools. Invited by Danni Shashaua and the Jonathan Foundation, he led five days of classes, providing students with materials and guidance to develop their creativity.

He described the students as "vibrant and hungry for knowledge," seeing great potential for artistic growth. Midway through his visit, he took a break to explore Akagera National Park. Reflecting on the experience, he noted the energy of the classroom and the moments when students would spontaneously dance.
